Sustainability and
Corporate Governance Scholar

Biography

Leanne Keddie is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. She earned her PhD in Accountancy from the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University in Montreal, QC. Her current research examines the use of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance-based incentives in executive compensation contracts and, more broadly, sustainable corporate governance. Additionally, her recent research aims to understand accounting in the circular economy. Practically, she aims to provide evidence that informs boards and regulators on the use and design of ESG incentives and how corporate governance supports (or inhibits) these initiatives and how firms can transition to a more sustainable world. Her work has received FRQSC and SSHRC funding and has been published in the British Journal of Management, Advances in Environmental Accounting & Management and Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal.
